Scream 6 star Jenna Ortega says the franchise is upping the ante with its latest instalment by going gorier and bloodier than ever.
Get ready to scream – Scream 6 star Jenna Ortega says that the latest instalment of the franchise is going to be bigger, bloodier, and gorier than ever. The anticipated sequel – slated for a March 2023 release – has already sent fans buzzing with excitement by teasing the return of some classic characters as well.
In an appearance on Entertainment Tonight, Ortega revealed that she’d read part of the script already and was excited about the bloodbath that the movie was promising.
“Ghostface gets a lot more intimidating,” she said. “I just read part of the script, and it just gets more and more gory. I think that this is probably the most aggressive and violent version of Ghostface we’ve ever seen, which I think will really be fun to shoot.”
Ortega also weighed in on the return of Hayden Panettiere as Kirby from Scream 4, but didn’t reveal too many details. She did, however, say that Panettiere’s Kirby would get her shot at redemption.
“I’m not even going to try to touch on it. She has been one of my favourite characters in the franchise for a long time so the fact that her character gets to come back and redeem herself is really exciting.” she said.
Also returning to the franchise along with Ortega are Melissa Barrera as Sam, Jasmin Savoy Brown as Mindy, and Mason Gooding as Chad. While plot details are not out yet, the story will follow the protagonists’ departure from Woodsbro and their attempts to leave the past behind. Of course, it seems Ghostface has other plans for them.
