At the start of this week, we received some of the best news of 2021 yet: Sex and the City is the next TV series in line for an official reboot.

But in very 2020 fashion, it came with a catch. It will be revived, but without the likes of one very crucial character to the series, that being one Samantha Jones.

The relationship between Kim Cattrall (who played the role of Samantha Jones) and Sarah Jessica Parker aka SJP (who played the role of Carrie Bradshaw), has been seemingly complicated since 2018.

It became blatantly obvious that Cattrall wouldn’t be a part of the reboot when Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon all shared the trailers for the reboot titled, And Just Like That… via Instagram. Cattrall did not follow suit.

While the cult of Sex and the City fans all over the world have been patiently and avidly awaiting more details on the upcoming series, details have been super scarce.

That is until a TMZ reporter tracked down SJP (of course they did) and took the liberty of deducing some nuggets of information from Carrie Bradshaw herself.

SJP was asked if they had begun looking for the actress to play the fourth character, that being Samantha. Naturally, everyone’s wondering how Sex and the City can even exist without the character who many argue, put the sex in Sex and the City.

And SJP responded in the most SJP meets Carrie Bradshaw way possible.

She said, “We’re not looking to create a fourth character. We have New York City as a fourth character.”

She also went on to say, “There’ll be lots of different things and new characters that we’re excited about.”

SJP also shared with the TMZ reporter that they haven’t actually started filming yet. Here’s hoping COVID-19 miraculously disappears in the very near future.
