Former Australian cricketer Shane Warne competed on the popular reality TV show I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here back in 2016. While the experience is notoriously grueling for contestants, Warne managed to snag some special privileges that no other celebrity had ever received.
According to the show’s hosts, Dr Chris Brown and Julia Morris, Warne had some specific requests written into his contract before he would agree to participate. “There’s rules for Warnie and there’s rules for everyone else. No one else has ever got the privileges that Warnie got,” admitted Brown during an interview with KIIS 101.1’s Jase & Lauren.
Warne’s special treatment included “special Warnie time” – essentially cigarette breaks off-camera. “He is the only one that has ever been able to have special Warnie time,” Brown revealed.
However, Morris added that Warne hasn’t been the only contestant to receive special privledges.
“There was one contestant with a scar on their face and they used a tiny little bit of cover up each morning just over that scar. So that was something that they had written in [to their contract],” she explained.
Despite Warne’s unique perks, the show is still no walk in the park for contestants. The upcoming season, set to premiere on April 2, will be filmed in Africa for the first time since the pandemic began.
Many viewers assume that the celebrities are given luxurious accommodations during breaks in filming, but Morris clarified that this is far from the truth. “There is no stepping off the set – nothing like that,” she said.
