As part of the two-hundred-year TV contract Shannon Noll signed with Channel Ten back in 2003, he was recently required to travel to the jungles of South Africa to appear on this season of reality show I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here!

Because there isn’t a lot going on there, the contestants were sitting around discussing what made them proud to be Australian.

“Meat pies, kangaroos, songs, Ayers Rock, AFL”, began Noll, before chat turned to whether Australia Day should be moved.

“If it offends our original Australians, I would be quite happy to talk about a date that suits everybody that doesn’t represent a bloodshed day for them”, Nollsie said.

“If that day represents obviously pain and heartache for our original, native Australians”, he continued, “then I think they are as proud Australians as any of us so I would be up for maybe moving it to a day that they are happy and we are happy and everyone is happy but not lose the day.”

Boxer Danny Green disagreed, but that’s another tale not worth giving oxygen to.
