It looks like Halloween has come early for horror fans with the news that spooky streaming service Shudder is now available in Australia and New Zealand.

It comes after years of Shudder, owned by U.S. entertainment company AMC, teasing film buffs that the platform would be heading Down Under after having launched in the U.S., Canada, the UK, Ireland and Germany.

Chock-a-block with on-demand horror, thriller, and suspense movies, TV series, podcasts, and live streaming events, Shudder is available to stream via the web, iOS, Apple TV, Android and Android TV, as well as FireTV in Australia.

Among some of the content available on the service includes Creepshow, a series based on George A. Romero’s iconic 1982 movie, along with horror classics It Follows and the Halloween series.

“We’re thrilled to share our unrivalled collection of curated horror and supernatural movies and series with Australian and New Zealand audiences just in time for Halloween season, where we feature our biggest and best programming of the year,” said Craig Engler, Shudder’s General Manager.

“These new launches continue our growing international expansion and our commitment to offer premium genre entertainment to a global audience.”

Plans for the streaming service in Australia will cost you a very reasonable $6.99 a month or $69.99 for a yearly subscription, which equals around $5.83 per month. You can also suss out what it has to offer through a seven-day trial.

While Shudder was first reported to be heading to Australia back in 2018, a Shudder staff member told Redditors in March 2020 that the service’s delayed launch was due to a number of technical issues.

“Basically, in the last 1-2 years we switched all the tech platforms to be more robust, but while we’re doing that we can’t launch anything new. Now that that long process has been completed, we can look at new launches, etc,” the Shudder staff member wrote.

Nevertheless, it has finally arrived, so prepare to never sleep again.
