Italian luxury high fashion brand, Bottega Veneta is currently facing backlash for its recent fashion rendezvous in Berlin.

As reported by WWD, the brand Bottega Veneta which crafts ready-to-wear, handbags, shoes, accessories, jewellery and fragrances, recently launched their ‘fall 2021’ collection at inarguably the world’s most famous and even more importantly, enigmatic techno club in Berlin, Berghain.

Upon the event which went down only a number of days ago, photos of the artists and fashion public figures on their way to attend the event naturally made their way to Instagram, with hundreds of comments landing on the post made by Vogue Hommes, with users outraged given the fact that Berlin is currently in lockdown.

Artists who were seen to be attending the event include rappers Skepta, Slowthai, DJ Honey Dijon, Burna Boy, along with ballet dancer, Roberto Bolle and designer, Stefano Pilati.

While this would have been a particularly gutsy move to make at a regular time in which the world was not in the midst of a pandemic, the brand has received even more backlash than usual.

One Instagram user said, “Iconic slap in the face of the whole city.” While another said, “Shame on Bottega for this.”

Another commented, “They think the virus will not get through the door politics from Berghain. This is so f–king immoral, we are in a MF lockdown here in Berlin.”

Other comments on the post read, “But we are in a pandemic and we can’t travel, there is people from UK than is allowed without any work/family reason?” And, “Ultra pretentious not to mention inappropriate for the time 🤢”

Not only did they the Italian fashion house host a show at Berghain, they also invited their attendees to an after party at Soho House, which has left the outside world even more outraged, particularly as Bottega’s guests took to Instagram to share videos of the event, where they’re captured partying without masks and with obviously zero social distancing.

Not only have Instagram users lashed out via comments, meme accounts sure as hell aren’t holding back either.

Off-White creative director, Virgil Abloh was also photographed pulling up the event.
