Okay so someone has reimagined The Shining as a ’90s sitcom… but somehow it’s still creepy.

As reported by NME, the recreated version transforms Stanley Kubrick’s 1980 cult classic, horror film into a “lighthearted show”, repositioning the film’s Overlook Hotel (aka hell hole) into a lovely place to road-trip with the fam.

How exactly were they able to do this?

Well, they’ve chopped and edited scenes from the movie into one trailer coming in just shy of a minute and a half, supposedly for a make believe TV show.

The pretend trailer takes some of the happiest and seemingly innocent scenes from the film to create the opening credits for the show, setting the scene of the Torrance family on the road to the Overlook Hotel.

Think wholesome smiles from Wendy Torrance, great views of the mountainous scenery on the road, and little Danny biting into a fluffy sandwich.

All the while, the show’s opening credits have you bopping along to ‘La Fête À La Maison’ by The Hollywood Prime Time Orchestra, bringing peak ’90s sitcom vibes – basically getting you thinking that you’re in for an episode of Full House.

That is until the trailer progresses and snippets of the movie’s creepy side pop their head out. We’re talking Danny in the maze, blood and of course Jack (Torrance’s) creepy smile.

If you think back to the first time that you ever watched the original film, you’d remember that sense of nervousness and anticipation of what the film was about to bring before you. Whether you’d seen the trailer or movie stills, your friends had spoiled it for you or the like, you’d know that you were undoubtedly in for a fright.

And let’s be real, it will get you every time. It’s a cult classic, after all.
