Survivor alum Sophie Cachia has sat down for an interview in light of her very public break up with her ex-fiance Maddie Garrick.

Maddie and Sophie went public with their relationship in 2021 and got engaged in March of this year. Earlier this year, Maddie moved to Florence, Italy, for a work opportunity with Polisportiva A.Galli Basket and the two transitioned into a long-distance relationship. However, Sophie announced their split on Instagram last week.

While neither party has publicly explained why they split, there has been whispers that Maddie cheated on Sophie.

In a chat with the Herald Sun, Sophie told the publication that she’s trying to be strong as she recovers from the heartbreak of splitting with Maddie.

“Every challenge in life will provide you with a lesson,’’ she said.

“You can either choose to stay the same, or grow from it, and I promised myself I’d never let anyone break me again.

“I could play the poor me card, or I could look at the life I’ve built — I have two incredible children, a beautiful home and a wonderful career. I really have everything I need.”

She added: “While breakups are sad for everyone, I have chosen to have a really positive mindset and I have peace knowing we shared a wonderful few years together and I wish her all the best both personally and professionally overseas.”

Sophie originally announced the split with Maddie in an emotional Instagram story.

“It is with sadness and a great deal of pain that I have unfortunately made the decision to end my relationship,” she wrote.

The statement continued, “When I proposed, I did it with the guarantee of loyalty, trust, honesty & respect from my end. Despite the great deal of love I still hold, I have made this decision to lead by example for what I know I deserve in life for myself, and for my children – because we are all worthy.

“While I am hurting, life must go on. I still have to show up for work with my businesses and most importantly be a mum and role model to my two children.

Sophie shared this on her story

“This is unfortunately a position I really didn’t want to be in. Therefore, I beg you, please let me be, to protect my children, my mental health and allow us all to heal and move forward. I will not be commenting any further,” she concluded.
