With just five days to go until the latest season of Love Island Australia premieres, host Sophie Monk has confirmed that Al Perkins is one of the islanders looking for love.
Speaking to Yahoo Lifestyle of the decision to cast Al on the dating show, Monk said: “I thought that was perfect.”
She added, “I was watching him on MAFS and straightaway when I saw him I thought, ‘Why is he not on Love Island?’ because he had never had a girlfriend when he got married. So I think it’s really good for him.
“He’s hilarious and he really had a good time. I don’t want to give too much away, but it was great for him.”
There has been a lot of speculation about Al joining Love Island, and his part of the show was hinted at by Monk during an appearance at Channel 9’s Upfronts. “We have high-flying real estate agents, we have a soccer player, we have a model, a dancer and we have a famous groom,” she said.
Furthermore, Daily Mail Australia papped Al surrounded by a bevvy of bikini-clad beauties in the show’s Spanish villa last month, which you can view here. To add fuel to the fire, his normally-active Instagram account was silent for two months from August 23rd – leading fans to believe that he was in the villa and unable to use his phone.
And, Al reportedly isn’t the only reality star who jetted over to Spain for the filming of Love Island. According to So Dramatic!, Josh Moss from season one of the reality show will be returning to Love Island – but not as a contestant.

An insider told the publication that Josh “was in Mallorca to do interviews for Love Island“.
“Kinda like an Afterparty thing, but not live. Just for the web series,” they added.
