You might not think a woman who was named in FHM‘s 100 Sexiest Women for almost a full decade would have ever struggled with her looks, but Sophie Monk has revealed that she used to be bullied in school.
During an appearance on The Kyle and Jackie O Show, the model and presenter opened up about struggling back in her school days.
“I was definitely bullied at school. I used to have to sing after every assembly, which is so humiliating anyway. They’d make me sing the school song, the national anthem, whatever, and the kids used to say ‘it ain’t over until the fat lady sings.’
It turns out Sophie was especially picked on by one boy, who called her “cellulite queen.” After Jackie asked if Sophie would love to know what had happened to the boy, she revealed that he threatened to sue her after she said his name live on-air. “What a loser,” Jackie exclaimed, while Sophie cheekily added, “Good to know he’s a tool now.”
Sophie found the silver lining in the bullying ordeal though. “It taught me a sense of humour,” she noted. I learned self-deprecation.” Elsewhere in the interview, she opened up about the dress of freezing her eggs, revealing that they’re “going to have a break and chill.”
Sophie was appearing on the radio show to promote the new season of Beauty and the Geek Australia, which she’s presenting. The reality TV series follows a group of ‘Beauties’, women known for their attractiveness, and “Geeks”, men known for their intellect, who pair up to attempt to win a grand prize of $100,000.
In an interview with 9Entertainment, the host revealed that several matches surprised her. “One (Geek) in particular I was like, ‘You go boy look at her, she’s a catch!'” she recalled. “Within minutes I was like, ‘Their chemistry is massive.’ It was like locked eyes and that was it.”
