South Park is going to celebrate its 25th anniversary in style with a huge outdoor concert at one of the world’s most stunning venues.

South Park: The 25th Anniversary Concert will take place at Colorado’s legendary outdoor venue Red Rocks on August 10th. Details about the concert are still scarce but we’re sure the animated sitcom’s co-creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone will have some quirky ideas cooked up.

It’s been suggested that the pair will actually be performing rather than merely hosting – imagine the cognitive dissonance of witnessing an actual human utter the vitriolic words of Eric Cartman.

They’ve also recruited two fascinating bands for the occasion: iconic experimental rockers Ween and alternative metal outfit Primus are both going to be part of the festivities in some capacity. It’ll be an especially sweet moment for the latter, given that they created the catchy South Park theme tune. The band’s lead singer Les Claypool and the show’s four main characters alternately sing the lyrics during the title sequence.

Colorado is having quite the time of it with South Park news of late. Parker and Stone revealed last year that they had purchased Casa Bonita, the Mexican restaurant that Cartman loves so dearly.

The anniversary concert news comes as South Park wraps up its 25th season. With only six episodes, it’s the second shortest season in the show’s history. Parker and Stone recently penned a blockbuster deal that will see the show reach a whopping 30 seasons.

We’ll keep you in the loop with further updates about the anniversary concert, including if it will be live-streamed for fans not near Colorado. If you are close to Red Rocks, though, you can register for South Park: The 25th Anniversary Concert tickets here.
