Fourteen long days of harsh lockdown restrictions in NSW seems to have pushed some Sydneysiders to the brink. (Un)namely so, an anonymous man who raided Leichhardt’s Peanut Butter Bar and took off with 60 milk buns.

The bread bandit’s thievery took place at 5am yesterday morning. Despite the restaurant being (quite obviously) empty, the robber was masked up, ensuring he was abiding by corona rules while committing the crime.

Peanut Butter Bar posted a video of the burglary (set to the soundtrack of Pink Panther by some stroke of genius) and made light of the situation with a tongue-in-cheek caption.

“Ok, we know times are tough. We are living them too but do you know how much carbs are in 60 🍔 milk buns????,” their official account posted alongside the video.

Despite the Peanut Butter Bar taking the whole ordeal like absolute champs, the fact that small businesses – or any business, for that matter – are being robbed during a pandemic is dismal.

The video shows a masked man entering the front dining area of the restaurant with a large backpack. He then proceeds to stuff all of the buns, which had just been delivered to the restaurant for the day – into his bag. After that, it looks as though the thief scoots off into oblivion with enough buns to feed a small army.

Sydney is currently on day 15 of lockdown after a cluster of cases that started in Bondi have been continuously growing across the city. Since June 16, there have been 566 locally acquired cases reported and the region plunged into a strict lockdown on June 26th.
