It’s almost Easter Sshow season. I don’t know about you but I spend every waking moment of my life counting down the days until I can watch lumberjacks chop wood, and get my mittens on a show bag full of stale Bertie Beetles.

After a quick glance at the food offerings for this years instalment of the Easter Show has us reaching one conclusion: they are trying to kill us. Prepare you’re arteries because we’re going to take you through all the fatty, fried goodness you’ll be able to punish your vital organs with.

Deep Fried Lasagna

I typed those two words and felt a million and one nonna’s roll in their grave. That’s right, the Easter Show has made it its personal mission to destroy the good name of lasagna by… deep frying it. Big Tony’s stall will be flogging deep fried sheets of pasta, meat and sauce on a stick. It’s an abomination. Who would anyone do this? It looks like a pizza pocket procreated with a Golden Gaytime.

Deep Fried Cheesecake

I just want to know who it was that experienced a perfectly supple, cold, delightfully textured cheesecake and thought “fuck this would be heaps better if it was hot and deep fried, and also on a stick.” Apparently Sweet Treats did. We have to hand it to them though, it looks heaps more delicious than we anticipated.

Deep Fried Oreo

This is no new concept by any means but Sweet Treats are taking it to the next level. Deep fried and coated in Nutella and icing sugar. My teeth just winced at the thought.

Deep Fried Chicken In A Waffle Cone

An easter show-core take on an American classic. Fried Chicken and Waffles. These bite sized nuggets of fried chioniously in a waffle cone. Chic’Kone is here with one of the few offerings I respect.
