It’s the best time of the year. The 66th Sydney Film Festival has announced its All Night Cine-Love In. A cinema marathon from 10 pm until 7:30 am hosted by the beloved Dendy Newtown.

The All Night Cine-Love In will feature films carefully curated by Festival Programs Manager Jenny Neighbour. It will celebrate her 30th Festival feat with four fantastic films that shaped her cinematic experience.

Kicking off the all-night session will be David Lunch’s cult-classic surrealist debut film, Eraserhead (1977). Following with be Nagisa Oshima’s provocative masterpiece, In the Realm of the Senses (1976), Lindsay Anderson’s Malcolm McDowell led triumph O Lucky Man! (1973), and rounding off the evening will be John Waters fantastically grotesque trash flick Female Trouble (1994).

“These films hark back to my time as an arts student in London in the early ’80s and discovering the capital’s legendary Scala Cinema – a true movie treasure trove, from the days when films weren’t accessible online or even in stores. It’s there I discovered that films could be provocative, trashy, surreal, troubling, and not always in English,” shared Neighbour.

“With 30 Sydney Film Festivals under my belt, I wanted to celebrate that time; the moment when cinema truly opened its doors to me,” she said. “This All Night Cine-Love In may change your cinematic world, and if it doesn’t… well, it’s going to be a great night at the movies.”

The full 66th Sydney Film Festival Program will be unveiled on Wednesday, May 8th. Flexipasses to the 2019 instalment on the festival are available for purchase now. Head to sff.org.au for more information.
