Tomorrow will see the launch of COMMUNE Our Hood – a new monthly event for Sydney’s alternative culture scene.

Promising “a precinct of culture, community and freedom of expression.” the event will showcase fresh local art, music, food, and more every month. Born out of a desire to showcase the newest and brightest in progressive culture, the event hopes to support any Sydney creatives looking for a place to showcase their work.

The event also wants to put a focus on networking and connecting with the community around you. Held at the COMMUNE warehouse space in Waterloo, every month you can expect markets, live music, yoga, exhibitions, and performance.

When asked why the event was created, event producer Jennifer Noorbergen told us; “COMMUNE Our Hood has been a long time coming. After seeing too many great projects unable to launch due to high costs, lack of networks and censorship, we wanted to provide an accessible platform to support initiatives we stand behind.”

On the future of the event, Noorbergen says; “The opportunities for this event moving forward are endless. We have a huge space to transform, that brings together mini curations within one major event. It will become an ever-evolving platform that champions progressive ideas. Each month will bring a completely unique set of experiences and local creators. So you’ll always have a diverse home of alternative culture in Sydney.”
