Let the sky be your Saturday night entertainment, Sydney and Melbourne, as you’ll be treated to both a partial lunar eclipse and a ‘strawberry’ moon.

Even though some events are starting to rev back up again, like simply going out to dinner, other forms of entertainment are still off the cards, such as concerts, comedy shows, and theatres. Luckily the sky will be putting on a brilliant show for Sydney-siders and Melburians this Saturday night.

While we’ve become bored of being home with board games exhausted and Netflix watch lists slowly depleting, the sky has served as a beautiful show of entertainment, with only one month ago it put on a beautiful display of a large meteor shower for both Melbourne and Sydney.

Well, this time it’s the moon’s turn to shine, both literally and figuratively. This Saturday, June 6th, Sydney and Melbourne will be treated to two lunar phenomenons: a partial lunar eclipse and a ‘strawberry’ moon.

Luckily, Saturday is set to have clear skies the night of, so both the lunar eclipse and ‘strawberry’ moon should be in perfect view. The only downside? It’s happening quite late during one of the coldest nights thus far.

With Saturday being the proper time to party anyway, and the fact that we can now have mates come around for drinks, make it a late one because you won’t be able to see the eclipse until around 3:45AM AEST, coming to a peak at 5:24AM AEST.

Don’t want to stay up that late? Maybe you can just make it an early Sunday morning, grab a cuppa (because it’ll be quite chilly), and see the beauty of the moon to start your day. Plus, since it’s a long weekend, you can go right back to bed and sleep away Sunday and Monday because there aren’t any responsibilities to worry about until Tuesday.
