The Sydney Theatre Company is opening its 2016 season with The Golden Age by Louis Nowra.

The story is inspired by a real-life chase after a group of Europeans who went missing in the Tasmanian wilderness in 1939. The play follows their lives as tortured convicts and outcasts in a new colony, seeking escape from hard-handed authority.

The cast features Sarah Peirse, Ursula Yovich, Robert Menzies, Brandon McClelland, directed by Kip Williams and with designer, David Fleischer, in “a storythat grapples with our colonial history, as well as with the trauma of the first half of the 20th century.”

The Golden Age will hit Wharf 1 Theatre at Sydney Theatre Company fromThursday January14to Wednesday February 20. Get your hands on tickets here.
