Taika Waititi has spoken out for the first time since those photos of him appearing to kiss both Rita Ora and Tessa Thompson emerged.

ICYMI, the internet lost its collective shit last month when several outlets published paparazzi photos of Taika Waititi, Rita Ora, and Tessa Thompson getting affectionate on a balcony in Sydney.

Personally, I wasn’t aware that three consenting adults having a cheeky smooch would be considered such a scandal in 2021, but here we are.

Now, Waititi himself has weighed in on the controversy, telling The Sydney Morning Herald that “everything goes away pretty quick” on the internet.

“Is it that big a deal? No, not really. I was doing nothing wrong. It’s fine,” he said.

While Waititi is reported to be in a relationship with Ora, his exact connection with Thompson, who he recently worked with on the upcoming film Thor: Love and Thunder, remains unclear

Ora first sparked romance rumours back in April when she uploaded a photo to Instagram of Watiti with his arms around her.

“Good times, memories, random things on my phone and the ones I love,” she captioned her post alongside a collage of other images.

From there, they were also photographed together at the premiere of RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under in early May.

On top of that, the pair were spotted at that wild celebrity lunch in Sydney that also involved the likes of Christian Bale, Russell Crowe, Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher.

Good luck to the crazy kids, I say.
