After a lot of confusion over what’s going on with Tanya Roberts following premature reports about her death, her passing has been confirmed.
The last few days has been something of a rollercoaster for fans, friends, and family of Tanya Roberts due to conflicting reports about her death.
Following initial reports on Monday that the former Bond Girl and That ’70s Show star had died after her partner Lance O’Brien issued out a statement, saying, “As I held her in her last moments, she opened her eyes.”
However, these reports were seemingly – and quickly – debunked as it was subsequently reported that erroneous info had shared by Roberts’ publicist and that the actress was apparently still alive.
But now The New York Times and TMZ are reporting that Roberts had died Monday evening aged 65 after being admitted to the hospital.
According to the original statement put out by her publicist, Roberts had collapsed on Christmas Eve while walking her dogs and was taken to the hospital.
O’Brien then issued out his aforementioned statement, which led to reports about Roberts’ death.
However, Roberts’ death was prematurely announced as O’Brien then reportedly got a call from the Hospital ICU informing him that she was still alive after he had visited her, a conversation that was captured on tape by Inside Edition.
Another call was made hours later informing O’Brien that Roberts had been officially declared dead according to TMZ.
This news was confirmed in a new statement issued out to E! News by Roberts’ publicist.
“With a heavy heart, I can confirm the death of Tanya Roberts (age 65) last night on January 4, 2021 around 9:30pm PT at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles CA,” the statement reads. “Her 18-year domestic partner Lance O’Brien received the phone call from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center last night at their home confirming her passing.”
“Today, January 5, 2021 at 10:00am PT, O’Brien picked up Roberts’ personal possessions from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center,” the statement continued.
“Roberts was an animal rights activist. In lieu of flowers, they are asking for donations to be given in Roberts’ name to the ASPCA. An online memorial for Tanya Roberts will be announced shortly. The family ask for privacy as they mourn her death.”
