Remember when Oxford Street had that rainbow crossing around the time of the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, and it added a splash of beauty to an area crippled by lockout laws and other draconian governmental measures dictated not by public safety but by developers and vested interests?

Well, Lord Mayor Clover Moore has this morning announced that a permanent rainbow crossing will be installed at the intersection of Bourke and Campbell streets “near Taylor Square where our rainbow flag has proudly flown since 2015.”

As Clover states, this a “good news story just in time for the 40th anniversary of Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras this Sunday 24 June.”

Bravo!
