Danny Wallis has been one of the most prolific buyers on ‘The Block’. Here’s what he does with the houses.

We might forget it amidst the drama around the show – particularly during the latest season – but The Block is, actually, about houses. Throughout the season, teams put their heart and soul into one house in the hopes of selling it for profit at the end of the season. But what actually happens with the houses that are sold?

Well, serial The Block buyer Danny Wallis gave away most of the houses he bought on the show to various charitable organisations, particularly those for children battling cancer. Although, this time, he might keep one of the houses for himself.

“This year, I’ll be keeping one for myself to grow vegetables and grow fruit trees in the backyard, and a little holiday,” he said during a chat with 3AW. He also has a special spot for Omar and Oz’s house: “It’s got the basketball court and tennis court.”

He plans to turn another property into “a resort for kids”. He might be partial to House Five for that one – he thinks it’s “the best one” for kids.

To date, Wallis has invested upwards of $40 million AUD into houses on The Block. In fact, Wallis was the only buyer this season – three of the five houses on The Block 2022 were bought by him. The other two are still on the market.

For this year’s winning property – Omar Slaimankhel and Osman “Oz” Malik’s luxury home in Gisborne, Victoria, which he coincidentally might decide to keep for himself  – Wallis shelled out a whopping $5.6 million AUD.

As a result, Omar and Oz walked away with a total of $1.5 million AUD in profits. Along with the $100,000 AUD prize money, they walked away with the biggest amount any winner has ever bagged in the history of the show.
