Amidst a season rife with tragedy and controversy, a contestant on The Block also appears to have confirmed that the show is rigged. This comes amidst online criticism around the recent season, with many viewers accusing the judges of being partial to Sarah-Jane Wilson and Tom Calleja.
Now, an unnamed contestant has opened up to So Dramatic! and claimed that the producers ‘manipulate’ the judges’ scores to amp up the drama and tension.
“Some weeks we had no idea how certain rooms had won and the judge’s comments didn’t reflect the scores that were given,” the contestant told So Dramatic!.
“The feedback is so inconsistent… The producers manipulate the judge’s scores to make them seem like it’s closer between the couples to, of course, add drama.” They added. “It’s not a true reflection of the rooms or the scores.”
“It’s rigged, which is totally unfair as it’s supposed to be a competition.” they said.
It’s not the first time this season that claims of production allegedly steamrolling the process have surfaced. Earlier this week, sources close to the show told So Dramatic! that long hours on the show coupled with irresponsible management had led to contestants ‘micro-sleeping’ while driving.

The same source also alleged that production had ignored calls of changing the schedules or making provisions for contestants’ safety. “Instead, they would go off at the contestants for sleeping on the road and blame them instead of coming up with a solution. Contestants were like, ‘Well, what are we meant to do?’” they said.
“That’s why some contestants started taking their partners with them on the trips or taking other contestants with them, [so] they could share the driving and not die or have an accident on the road.” the source added.
