This year’s Sydney Royal Easter show looks likely to be the biggest yet, with the original stables filled with food stalls, news bars to hang in, a flying trapeze, rollercoasters, rides, showbags, and a neon-drenched silent disco packed with some of the best DJs Sydney has to offer.

But our favourite event happens daily between 3pm and 5pm on a stretch of grass aptly named the Dog Judging Lawn, on Shoalhaven Street.

It’s the Baby Puppy competition, and of course it’s the cutest thing happening at the Royal Easter Show this year!

From the official show description: “Aged between 3 – 6 months old, these little guys romp and roam their way around the ring, capturing hearts everywhere they pass. Every afternoon, you will be treated to an absolutely adorable display as Best Baby Puppy of the day is awarded their trophy.”

If you want more adorable canine action while at the Royal Easter Show — and why on earth wouldn’t you? — there are the Canine Hero Awards, where very good and brave dogs are awarded, the Yard Dogs competition, where working pups will herd packs of sheep and complete obstacle courses, two further dog competitions (for more grown-up dogs), plus a patting and adoption area – where you can take home your future best mate.

The 2018 Sydney Royal Easter Show will run from Friday March 23 to Tuesday April 3, and this year it’s hosting a neon dance party with some of the city’s best DJs. Check out everything the show has to offer right here.
