The last but absolutely not least trailer for the forthcoming Joker film crept up on us overnight, giving us even more texture into the story of the famed DC villain ahead of the films October release. ‘Send In The Clowns’ the trailer says and that’s fine and all, as long as you send them the hell away from me.

We already know that Joker will tell a story completely unique to the DC Universe, making it a particularly curious film. What we can tell from the trailers thus far is the film will follow Joaquin Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck on his slow and twisted demise from seemingly harmless odd ball to straight-up psychopath.

We get to be a fly on the wall during some of the Joker’s therapy sessions which is a dream come true for die-hard fans of the universe. “All I have are negative thoughts,” Fleck tells his therapist in the trailer.

The new trailer gives us a glimpse into the role Robert De Niro’s character, TV Personality Murray Franklin’s plays in the Jokers plight. The trailer also gives us further insight into the dynamic between Fleck, and Sophie Dumond, a romantic interest played by Zazie Beetz and a brief look at Brett Cullen’s performance as Thomas Wayne, saviour of Gothem and father of Bruce Wayne who is Batman, for those playing along at home.

The film will hit cinemas on October 4 and has copped an R18 rating, so nothing is going to be watered down which is also a dream come true for die-hard fans.

As well as the laugh, the soulless eyes and the twisted make up, the scariest thing about the Joker is that he’s completely human, dealing with completely human things yet he still manages to become one of the most evil characters created and that, ladies and gentlemen, is the scariest part don’t ya think?
