The new Macca’s McPlant burger is only available in one state in Australia

The rumours are true – the McPlant burger has arrived in Macca’s Australia but only for one state in the country.

After hungry fans noticed the plant-based snack on Uber Eats last week, word spread that the McPlant burger was in Australia for the first time.

And Macca’s has now confirmed the collaboration with vegan meat substitute producer Beyond Meat is now part of the country’s menu but there’s a frustrating catch.

The McPlant burger is currently only available at Macca’s restaurants in Victoria, with the rest of Australia still having to bide its time to try the new menu item.

The McPlant burger consists of a plant-based patty made from peas, rice, potatoes and beetroot, topped with the usual suspects – tomato, lettuce, pickles and onions. A “mayonnaise-style” sauce, ketchup, mustard and a slice of American cheese are also included to make quite the delicious snack.

Macca’s has trialled vegetable creations in Australia before, with the McVeggie burger going down well from 2020 until the middle of last year. The McVeggie contained a potato, pea, corn, carrot and onion patty, very similar to the new McPlant.

If you’re wondering whether the McPlant burger lives up to the hype, TikTok account World Vegan Guides tried the new creation and hailed it as “unreal”, although deemed that it requires some “vegan Tasty cheese.”

If you’re in Victoria, you can grab a McPlant burger at all of the state’s 270 Macca’s locations until November 1st. It’s also available via the MyMacca’s app and McDelivery until that date. If you’re a vegan fast food fan elsewhere in Australia, keep your fingers crossed that the burger makes its way outside of Victoria soon. As someone commented on World Vegan Guide’s TikTok, the McPlant “needs to come to Sydney.”
