Remitly recently collected the most popular job-related searches from each country and showed the number 1 job searched by Australians.
A new map of the world has revealed the most popular jobs around the globe, and it turns out that being a pilot is the number one dream job. The map, generated using 12 months of Google search data, shows country names supplemented by the jobs their residents most want information about when considering a career change.
The study, conducted by financial services provider Remitly, looked at almost 200 job types and analyzed the search volume for phrases commonly associated with researching a new career.
Searches for “how to become a pilot” and similar phrases were top in 25 countries, including the UK, the US, and Australia, with 930,630 searches overall. The study found that the profession is “known for its excellent pay, great job prospects, and travel opportunities.” However, this may not be the best time to become a pilot given the state of the current airline industry.
Writer came in second place with 801,200 searches, and was the most-searched-for profession in 75 countries, including India, New Zealand, and South Africa. Dancer was third, with 278,720 searches worldwide, and was the most searched-for profession in countries such as Nigeria and Ghana. The study generally found that careers in the arts and culture sector proved the most popular overall.
YouTuber came in fourth place, with 195,070 searches, and was the most searched-for profession in countries such as Mexico and Japan. Entrepreneur came in fifth place, with 178,380 searches and was the most popular profession in countries such as Luxembourg and Guatemala. Being an actor, an influencer, a programmer, a singer, and a teacher rounded out the top ten.
Remitly also drew up maps with regional breakdowns for the search data. In Europe, being a writer is top across Scandinavia as well as in countries such as Greece, while the French most commonly search for information on how to become an attorney. In North and Central America, Canadians most commonly search for advice on how to be a pilot, while being an attorney is the most popular occupation in Puerto Rico, Guadeloupe, and Martinique.
