The Razer Enki is the latest gaming chair vying for your attention, but is it worth your hard-earned money? We give it a whirl to find out.

Anybody who spends a decent amount on gaming will tell you: sometimes you gotta treat your tush. After all, there’s no point splurging on a quality gaming setup if you’re stuck sitting on an incredibly uncomfy dining chair.

Razer hopes to rectify those woes with its new Enki gaming chair, and after ample time taking one for a spin ourselves, we can assure you they have very much succeeded.

According to Razer, the Enki is designed for all-day-comfort, and thanks to the unit’s specialised shoulder arches and wide seat base we never encountered a single iota of discomfort during our testing. That’s also helped along by a great amount of cushioning in the seat pad. It’s not so stuffed that you sink like the Titanic, nor is it so firm that plonking yourself down is akin to hitting solid pavement – straddling that perfect middle ground we were hoping for.

Then there’s the built-in lumbar arch which serves to keep your posture in check. While the Enki lacks the extra control of Razer’s pricier Iskur chair (which allowed you to adjust the specific depth of the support), the built-in arch is more than capable of keeping your ergonmics in check. It also avoids you having to worry about fidgeting with any annoying pillows like some competitors.

Speaking of pillows though, Razer does include a premium memory foam head cushion, which easily connects to the top of the chair and honestly felt like a cloud any time we used it.

Surprisingly though, what we appreciated the most was the Enki’s 4D armrests. The lack of adaptability in most major office chairs is a real pet peeve, but Razer has outdone themselves by providing the ability to tilt each armrest in and out, as well as slide in closer to your waist. Smaller gamers in particular will appreciate this flexibility – not having to awkwardly stretch just to get your elbows in place.

It may sound like we’re gushing, but that’s just because we’ve loved our time with the Enki. It perfectly blends all the qualities we want in a gaming chair while still retaining Razer’s sleek black and green aesthetic. That colour palette also helps it blend into almost any environment.

If we had one nit-pick it’s that the dual-textured, eco-friendly synthetic leather seems to pick up dirt and grime quite easily – meaning you’ll likely have to give it the occasional wipe down with a damp cloth. Hardly a deal-breaker, but it does bring to question how it’ll fare with more long-term use.

It’ll also set you back a tad – retailing at AU$674.95 which may be too steep for some. However if you can afford the investment, The Razer Enki is a worthy addition to your gaming setup that your body will thank you for later.
