A Twitter user recently uncovered the secret behind the House of the Dragon into and how it ties into the Targaryen dynasty.

Twitter user @conquerorscrown recently shared a Twitter thread explaining the meaning of the House of the Dragon intro that was unveiled in Episode 2. They explain that the various landmarks that the camera pans between are actually representative of different notable members of House Targaryen.

The blood that flows about the diorama (which is King Viserys’ model of Valyria) is actually the line of succession flowing between various heirs to the Iron Throne. It begins with the Doom of Valyria and Aegon and flows from successor to successor until we reach the point that the show is currently at.

“The #HOTD opening is a Targaryen family tree/bloodline represented on King Viserys’ Valyria model/diorama. What an amazing concept design. The tree obviously starts with Aegon the Conqueror himself. Here you can see the Doom of Valyria represented in his circle and his crown:”

“Queen Visenya (left) and Queen Rhaenys Targaryen (right), the sister wives of Aegon the Conqueror.”

“King Aenys I Targaryen (son of Rhaenys and Aegon I).”

“King Jaehaerys I Targaryen and Good Queen Alysanne Targaryen (both offspring of Aenys I). Notice Jaehaerys’ crown.”

“Prince Baelon Targaryen and Princess Alyssa Targaryen (both offspring of King Jaehaerys and Queen Alysanne).”

“King Viserys I Targaryen (left) and Prince Daemon Targaryen (right) bloodlines, the sons of Baelon and Alyssa.”

“Prince Daemon Targaryen and possibly on the far corner Lady Baela and Rhaena Targaryen (daughters of Daemon w/ Laena). Notice the blue color of their circles, representing the ties to House Velaryon.”

“King Viserys I Targaryen and Queen Aemma Arryn (notice Aemma’s circle is already flooded of blood, indicating her death). Also nod to another blood path from King Viserys. *wink wink* Pay attention to that, folks.”

“Is that Prince Aemon and his daughter Princess Rhaenys Targaryen (The Queen Who Never Was)?”

“Our Realm’s Delight, Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, daughter of Viserys I and Aemma Arryn.”

“Valyria represented, probably this pyramid is the ancestral home of the 40 dragonlord families, and that included House Targaryen of course.

Thank you for coming here and sorry if the images are a bit blurry.”
