The Lido, Classic, and Cameo Cinemas are doing their part to make the latest COVID-19 lockdown just a little bit easier to handle.
The trio of theatres have been running an on-demand film service for a while but, as Time Out reports, they’ve nicely lowered their prices to help customers now that Melbourne is in its fifth lockdown. More than 20 ‘Lockdown Movie Sale’ films are now available to stream for the great, cheap price of $3.
And there’s a nice mix of new and old films for you to choose between. A24 hipster horror Midsommar might offer the necessary distraction that you need during lockdown. There’s a lot of other horror on offer too, including The Vigil and The Conjuring 1 and 2. Just might be best to leave the pandemic-based film Contagion for another time.
The marmite Joker might be more to your liking. Watch Christoper Nolan’s latest bamboozling blockbuster Tenet maybe, or go classic with the Jack Nicholson-starring One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest or Orson Welles’ Citizen Kane. Perhaps, though, one trilogy will bring them all and in the lockdown bind them: all three Lord of the Rings films are available for $3 each and the lengthy fantasy flicks could fill the time this weekend perfectly.
If none of the $3 titles appeal, other films are available for just a little more, including 2020’s acclaimed Minari for just $7.
Sydney doesn’t miss out either, with sister venue Ritz Cinema also offering the $3 film deal. It’s actually the first time since May 2020 that all four cinemas have been closed at the same time due to lockdowns.
Head to the websites for the Lido, Cameo, or Classic at-home streaming services to get started and see the full lost of titles.
