If you remember, last year it was announced that the two-part play Harry Potter & The Cursed Child would be heading to Melbourne in 2019. It was exciting news for all Australian Potterheads – that fandom name is still hilarious to me and I don’t know why.

However, until now there was not much more information available. Luckily you no longer have to sit idly twiddling your thumbs! You can sign up here to be the first to get tickets at 9am on the 6th of August.

The Potter play begins previews on the 16th of January at the Princess Theatre, and officially opens on February 23rd. Because a month of previews seems necessary.

Harry Potter & The Cursed Child

The play just won 6 Tony awards so it sounds like it’ll be pretty good. Based 19 years after the final Harry Potter film, it focuses on Harry’s son and his relationship with his super famous wizard celebrity dad.

We don’t know much more because the play’s whole thing is “#KeepTheSecrets”, but we do know that you need to set aside 8 hours of your day for the whole thing. theres a 2.5 hour act, followed by a 2 hour break, and a second 2.5 hour act.

When you think about it though, that’s pretty much just watching 2 or 3 of the films in one sitting but probably with less popcorn.

There’s no news on pricing, but considering the length of the play I would recommend you start saving now.
