Netflix original doco Tiger King continues to be the most pervasive thing on the internet, and now there’s news that titular protagonist Joe Exotic could be set to launch his own radio show.

Of course, there’s just the small matter of him serving a 22-year jail sentence for attempting to pay a hitman to murder his Tiger King nemesis Carole Baskin that could prove a barrier. But according to his husband Dillon Passage, a US radio station is keen to gift him his own show from prison.

The news follows a premiere of a bonus after-episode of Tiger King that premiered last weekend, hosted by Joel McHale and featuring several of the key characters from the original series.

Now we could hear Joe’s side of the story, with Passage telling Metro that an unnamed US radio station is definitely interested in getting him set up with equipment to broadcast from inside the Texas Federal Medical Center.

“This radio station here in the US wants him to have his own radio show from inside the prison,” said Passage. “So we’ll see what happens with that. It’s kind of mind-blowing.”

Passage also revealed that Exotic was tested on suspicion of having contracted the coronavirus, but recently received a negative test result.

“He wishes he could talk more. He doesn’t really get phone call privileges mainly because he’s still in isolation for the coronavirus. His test results did come back negative for the virus.”

Unsurprisingly, the former Tiger King has been receiving plenty of fan mail during his incarceration, with Passage adding that he “absolutely loves the attention.

“‘He’s got a load of really good feedback, a lot of letters, a lot of emails.”

Exotic has been spending his time so far writing a book, Passage revealed to People. The book will reportedly dive into his childhood.

“You’re going to understand a lot more, which I can’t speak on because it’s not my story to tell,” said Exotic’s current husband. The book will tell the story of “a lot of mental, physical abuse, sexual abuse. It was not good. I’ve read all of it. It’s very heartbreaking. And he did not have a very good childhood.”

The success of Tiger King has also been a huge boost to Joe Exotic’s music career. According to NME, Exotic’s track ‘I Saw A Tiger’ has been listened to across all of Spotify’s 79 markets since it was uploaded to the platform on March 30.
