The coronavirus lockdown couldn’t have come at a better time for TikTok, with the platform already soaring in popularity over the past few months. Now many more have turned to TikTok for entertainment, and it’s big business for the top earners.
The social media platform, formerly known as musical.ly, is being used by actors, musicians and other celebrities, as well as content creators who’ve made a name for themselves based on their TikTok content alone.
TikTok has now launched ‘The Celebirty TikTok League‘, a page dedicated to the numbers behind TikTok’s top earners. The page allows you to rank content makers by followers, engagement and estimates earnings per post.
Coming out on top with the most total engagements is actors and former wrestler Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, with a total of 5,577,360 engagements at the time of writing. He’s followed by BTS and Hailey Bieber, with Will Smith and Camilla Cabello making up the Top 5.
Where it starts to get really interesting is when you break down the most engaging users by estimated earnings per post.
The Rock does pretty well compared to other celebrities on the platform. He and Will Smith both pocket over $20,000 US per post, both with around 20 million followers, but that pales in comparison to the amount others are earning.
Top of the earnings list is , dubbed the “reigning queen of TikTok” by the New York Times no less. She is easily the most-followed account on TikTok, with almost 50 million followers, and is said to pocket an eye-watering US$48,199 per post!
Singer and social media personality Loren Gray comes in second, followed by former Vine star Zach King who has transferred his abilities over to TikTok. Both are earning just over $40K, with the top five made up of Riyaz Afreen and Addison Rae.
