Toni Hilland, winner of The Amazing Race Australia 2022, has delivered a heartbreaking update about her terminal diagnosis.

Toni Hilland, winner of The Amazing Race Australia 2022, has delivered heartbreaking news about her health.

In a new chat with Herald Sun, Hilland revealed that doctors had discovered tumours in her brain. This latest development comes after Hilland’s prolonged battle with breast cancer. According to Hilland, her diagnosis is terminal.

Speaking to Herald Sun, Hilland revealed that she’d found out about the tumours shortly after receiving the winnings from The Amazing Race Australia 2022. Hilland was out to dinner with her husband to celebrate her win, when she collapsed in the middle of the restaurant.

“I had a glass of prosecco to celebrate, and I just did not feel great, and I ended up passing out in the restaurant,” Hilland recalled.

“I got taken to The Alfred, and because of my terminal diagnosis, they wanted to do a brain scan. Unfortunately, they did an MRI, and I have a couple of tumours in my brain.” she said, adding that while the breast cancer diagnosis had already been terminal, the tumours have ‘shortened my expected life even further’.

“When I was diagnosed [with breast cancer] and told it was terminal, I was told it [life expectancy] was five years average, and now it is one to two,” she recalled.

Still, Hilland is soldiering on with chemotherapy, and keeping her spirits up: “I don’t want to waste time in bed crying. My motto is to seize the day, carpe diem.”

Back in September, Hilland shared a 2015 picture on her Instagram, showing her shaved head. “7 years ago today – the BIG shave after my 1st breast cancer diagnosis. It’s now terminal/metastatic/stage 4 and I’m still fighting 💪❤️🤞.”
