As it currently stands, its been 3,994 days since Tool released their last album10,000Days, and fans couldn’t be more eager to hear new music. Every announcement the band makes seems to relate only to tour dates, with very little information regarding their mythical fifth album. However, the group have now posted a mysterious image on Twitter, and fans are going nuts trying to work out what it means.

While Tool’s frontman Maynard is currentlybusy working on the new A Perfect Circle album, and his other project Puscifer is between albums, it looks like it could be high time for news on the Tool front, right? Well, following on from the announcement of a bunch of tour dates for the group, A myserious image has popped up on the group’s Twitter and Facebook accounts, prompting fans to speculate on what it may mean.

Tool’s current tour dates run up until June 23rd, with their last scheduled tour date taking place in Sacramento, California, so taken on face value, it’s probably a safe bet that the pictured location is where they’ll play a show on that date. But why then haven’t they announced the show, or is this their typically enigmatic way of announcing it? Considering the tour wraps up the day before, could it mean that they’re planning to finish up the tour with new music dropping the day after? Unlikely, we know, but we can still dream.

Or could it be the date that we end up seeingall of Tool’s music finally come to streaming services? Considering the buzz that this news garnered when it was announced, it’s also a strong possibility. But rememberthat we saw recent news thatMaynard has been working on vocals for the new album, so we’re just going to hope that this fabled fifth album might finally be on its way. In the meantime, let’s reminisce with‘Vicarious’, from10,000 Days.
