Following the news that Triple M breakfast show MG, Jess and Pagey would be axed in 2023, the radio giants have announced the trio’s replacements.

In a statement released today, Southern Cross Austereo revealed that comedian Mick Molloy would be returning to the airwaves to replace Jess Eva’s axed show, alongside The Block star’s former co-host, Mark ‘MG’ Geyer.

“Mick and MG in the Morning will bring Triple M listeners a fresh new Breakfast offering but also the familiar voice of Molloy and his legendary radio antics,” the statement read.

They also revealed yet another familiar media personality would be joining the new team.

“Well-known and respected newsreader Natarsha Belling will join the show as a newsreader and will banter with the best of them to keep the boys on their toes,” SCA added.

Mick is well known to Triple M, after leaving the radio station and his drive show in December 2021 after 11 years on air to pursue other interests.

Molloy said of his return to radio, “I’m excited to be returning to my spiritual home at Triple M and look forward to getting amongst it, in the Sydney breakfast radio scene.

“After a year away from the radio waves I wanted a new challenge and Sydney is the perfect opportunity. I’m also looking forward to working with MG and swapping stories.

“And if this doesn’t work out, I’ll throw my hat in the ring at The Project. I hear there’s an opening,” he joked.

His co-host MG added: “I cannot wait to work with Micky, who I regard as radio royalty. One of us owns a pub, the other owns a gym. The ‘cross-over’ after work activities will be a hoot!”

SCA Chief Content Officer, Dave Cameron, said: “Mick Molloy has Triple M blood running through his veins, and to bring Mick back to headline Triple M Sydney breakfast is a triumph.”

Jess Eva made the shock announcement on Thursday morning that MG, Jess and Pagey “will not continue in 2023” and that their last show would be on Friday.

The move comes just one year after Triple M unceremoniously sacked her co-host Lawrence Mooney, who hosted Moonman in the Morning alongside Jess.

“The MG, Jess & Pagey show will not continue in 2023, and you can tune in tomorrow for the final show,” Jess said on Thursday morning, adding, “We’re going to be in the Triple M family, which is lovely.”

Mark ‘MG’ Geyer added, “Tomorrow is going to be all about reflection. Tomorrow is going to be all about the year that we’ve had together.”

Jess added, “For me, I feel like the MG, Jess & Pagey show will never leave me, as I have a picture of MG on my arse.”

“I just adore ya … At the end of the day … If you can roll in here to a breakfast show and you pick up a couple of soulmates and then you roll back out again and you have a wine, how good’s living?”
