In the infamous words of Donald Trump, “my whole life is about winning. I don’t lose often. I almost never lose”. A sentiment the former president seems to be living by, with the news that he’s launching his own Social Media platform ‘Truth Social’.
The move comes as a self-admitted retaliation response to his ban from some of the world’s biggest social media platforms.
Trump was notoriously permanently banned from Twitter and temporarily banned from Facebook in January. Both bans were related to his response to the violent riots that happened at the US Capitol that same month.
Now, Trump is taking matters into his own hands by launching his own social media platform called ‘Truth Social’.
“I created TRUTH Social and TMTG to stand up to the tyranny of Big Tech,” Trump said in a statement.
“We live in a world where the Taliban has a huge presence on Twitter while your favorite American president has been silenced. This is unacceptable,” he added because, of course, he did.
“I am excited to send out my first TRUTH on TRUTH Social very soon. TMTG was founded with a mission to give a voice to all. I’m excited to soon begin sharing my thoughts on TRUTH Social and to fight back against Big Tech. Everyone asks me why doesn’t someone stand up to Big Tech? Well, we will be soon!”
According to the release, the platform will begin to roll out in November this year and be fully operational in the first quarter of 2022.
Former Trump aide Jason Miller congratulated Trump on “re-entering the social media fray.”
“Now Facebook and Twitter will lose even more market share,” he said in a statement.
Miller created his own social media platform ‘GETTR’ in July of this year, a self-dubbed platform “founded on the principles of free speech, independent thought and rejecting political censorship and “cancel culture””. Trump is yet to join the social website.
While Trump certainly can’t tweet about his latest endeavour, his former right-hand man Miller announced the news on the GETTR Twitter account. The post was met with much mockery and next to no positive responses ensued.

“When your ex posts nice things about you in a feeble attempt to get back together,” responded one user.
“We don’t need Twitter” they posted to Twitter so people would actually see it,” said another.
