Two beloved Maccas burgers are set to re-rock up on the menu for today only, in celebration of McDonald’s 50th year in Australia.

To commemorate 50 years since The Golden Arches graced these golden plains, Maccas are bringing back both The Mac Jr and The Grand Mac burgers.

The Mac Jr. is The Big Mac’s humbler counterpart. At half the size, I’m of the opinion it’s pretty much the perfect burger. The Big Mac hits all the weird briney/salty/sweet/succulent cravings but there’s just… so much of it. Two burger patties are a vulgar display of Western decadence. The Mac Jr. however, is a chic Amuse-Bouche.

If you’re a glutton for gluttony you’ll be thrilled to learn that The Grand Mac, the super-sized Big Mac, will be hurtling back into our lives with the same towering presence as Lana Del Rey in the ‘Doin’ Time’ music video. It’s the same as a Big Mac but with 61% more beef.

“The Big Mac is one of our most popular menu items, loved by all for its fresh ingredients and iconic taste,” said McDonald’s Australia marketing manager, Amanda Nakad.

“What better way to commemorate 50 years of Macca’s in Australia, than to be able to bring back the entire Mac Family for a limited time and give our customers more of what they love.” It’s a family reunion, baby.
