The year is 2007. You’re perusing through Paddy’s markets; on the hunt for a collection of Pon and Zi badges to perfectly compliment your studded belt. Your Hiptop slide weighs heavily in your pocket as you wade through racks of knock-off Baby Milo garb. This is the golden era that the new Vans collection has managed to encapsulate.
The iconic skate shoe brand has revealed that their latest pop culture collaboration is none other than the scene kids bible, The Nightmare Before Christmas. The collection harks back to the golden age of design, it is sheer maximalism. It evokes nothing but the purest “i made you a cookie but i eated it” energy.
The capsule pays its respect to the quintessential scene colour scheme, lots of blacks, MySpace-core purple, Christmassy blues and greens. The beloved spooky characters adorn Sk8-Hi, Authentic, Old-Skool and Slip-On silhouettes. Lock, Stock and Barrel, Jack Skellington, Sally and Zero feature heavily in the designs.
Vans x The Nightmare Before Christmas is set to hit stores next month — just in time for the spooky season — and will retail for around $70 USD. Check out the designs below.
