Adelaide-Melbourne – from $79

Ballina-Melbourne – from $85

Gold Coast-Melbourne – from $89

With a lot of the country suffering from terrible weather right now, this might be the best opportunity to get down South on the cheap.

You’ll have to decide quickly though, because the sale is running only until this Friday, March 18th at midnight (or until sold out). And with all Aussie state and territory borders now finally open, Virgin Australia expects the seats to sell out immediately (even though there’s almost a milly in the sale).

If you do end up booking a cheap flight, be prepared for a hectic time at Tullamarine Airport. Yesterday saw the first flight depart Australia and land directly in Bali since March 2020, with more than 300 people booked on the flight.

Excited Aussies documented the momentous occasion on social media, capturing all the chaos first-hand. Social media influencers such as Alexmioni, TeganPhillipa, and Haylsa were among the enthusiastic passengers who boarded the first flights.

Each of them captured stories and photos from the Tullamarine end, and it looked like a carnival rather than an airport. The airport clearly made it quite the occasion with Balinese-inspired entertainment, including Legong dancers at check-in counters.

While the flight was very full, it’s been reported that this was a lot of confusion by travellers about what exactly they needed at the Australian airport. You shouldn’t have that problem flying domestic at least.
