Hamish Blake and Andy Lee managed to convince Ed Sheeran to play guitar in 30-second performances for passersbys at a $2 peep show.
The 2016 clip has resurfaced and shows Hamish and Andy ushering the ‘Perfect’ singer into a peep show booth.
“Peep shows. They have a pretty bad name, normally associated with lewd content, but by definition they don’t have to be. So, in an attempt to change that, we took one of the world’s biggest performing artists, kept all his clothes on and set up an Ed Sheeran peep show,” Andy explains in a voice over.
While Ed is seated and waiting for his first customer, Hamish – who is dressed in disguise – stands outside the store and tries to get walker bys to pay $2 to see the ‘Ed Sheeran Peep Show’.
After plenty of time passes, Sheeran asks Andy; “are they just saying no?” And Andy, confirms that a bunch of people, have in fact, turned down a $2 performance by the pop artists.
Eventually, 2 hours and 23 minutes later, Hamish manages to secure Sheeran’s first customers, a couple who are extremely hestitant and doubtful.
Much to their surprise, after paying their $2 fee, a curtain lifts and Sheeran serenades them with his hit song ‘Thinking Out Loud’. After the performance, the shocked couple are ushered out with the woman telling Hamish, “Oh my god, I love you”.
After the initial performance, Hamish managed to usher in a few more customers, most of who took videos on their phones of Sheeran performing. One man joins in singing with Sheeran, while another comments it was “best two dollars” he’s ever spent.
When Sheeran wrapped up his performance, he told Andy it was some “good shit”.
