The first teaser for the hugely-anticipated Harry Potter 20th anniversary special is here and bring on January 1st already.
Rumour spread of a possible HP reunion last month but it always felt like something too good to be true. Magic is real though, folks. HBO Max has rounded up the cast and crew of one of the most beloved film series of all time to reminisce on the 20th anniversary of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.
Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts will see the first-ever reunion of the original cast, including lead trio Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint. The newly-released teaser also features appearances of Hagrid himself, Robbie Coltrane, Matthew Lewis, who portrayed the bumbling but heroic Nevile Longbottom, and Mark Williams, who played the muggle-loving Arthur Weasley.
Other cast and crew set to attend the reunion include director Chris Columbus (who really wants to make a new HP film), Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix Lestrange), Ralph Fiennes (Voldermort), Gary Oldman (Sirius Black), Imelda Staunton (Professor Umbridge), Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy), Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood), and many more.
Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts will take fans deep into the iconic series, and will “tell an enchanting making-of story through all-new in-depth interviews and cast conversations,” as per HBO Max. So similar to THAT Friends reunion but, you know, hopefully much better.
The retrospective will celebrate the magic that went into the making of the films created at Warner Bros. Studios London two decades ago. It will also honour the wonderful legacy of the HP film franchise and its impact on the hearts and imaginations of fans around the world.
The HP reunion special hits HBO Max on New Year’s Day, January 1st, and it will hopefully be the best way to kick off the new year while indulging in some harmless childhood nostalgia.
