Spoilers ahead.

A new trailer has dropped for the much-anticipated fourth season of The Handmaid’s Tale as well as confirmation of its release date.

Get ready to enter dystopia again. Streaming service Hulu shared the first trailer for the show’s eagerly-awaited fourth season Friday, February 26th. We now also know that it will reach screens this April and the season will have 10 episodes.

It’s been a year and a half since the third season ended so fans have certainly had to bide their time. Judging by today’s trailer though, it looks even more intense and distressing than the previous seasons. That takes a lot of doing.

The show is based on the best-selling and critically-acclaimed novel of the same name by Margaret Atwood. It’s set in Gilead, a totalitarian society where women are treated as property of the state and fertile women are forced into child-bearing slavery.

The last season dramatically closed with June (Elisabeth Moss) being shot and left in the woods to die. She was luckily rescued by her fellow Handmaids and they now remain on the run from the authorities. So, yes, season four should be a lovely stress-free stroll in the park. Will we see an uprising? Hopefully.

Executive producer had Warren Littlefield had the following to say: “This year, in some ways it’s about patience rewarded. We’ve planted seeds for several years about this uprising and hotspot in Chicago, and that the forces of Gilead really can’t keep it under control. And now we go, we leave our central universe around the greater Boston area and boom, we’re in a completely different environment.”

“In season four, we have no home base,” Littlefield added.

The new season will start streaming on Hulu on April 28th and will stream in Australia on SBS and SBS On Demand.
