Our twee overlord Wes Anderson has enriched our self-isolation experience by sharing a trove of his favourite films and television shows with Centre national du cinéma et de l’image animée.

Unsurprisingly, Anderson’s favourite films are a bunch of cult classics from the 60s, including Marco Ferreri’s The Conjugal BedThe Ape Women, and The Big Feast; William Wyler’s The Westerner; and Seth Holt’s Station Six-Sahara. “ In the interview, Anderson revealed that he “had discovered it [Ferreri’s The Big Feast] years ago, but I hadn’t really gotten into it, I just saw him again and this time I loved it.”

Anderson’s sole television recommendation comes as a surprise, the director has sung the praises of Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould’s Breaking Bad spinoff, Better Call Saul. “It’s simply my favorite series,” he explains.

We know how we’ll be spending our evening.

Wes Anderson’s forthcoming film The French Dispatch, is set to arrive on October 16th. You can check out a trailer below.
