It’s been a triumphant few years for Willem Dafoe, who was nominated for an Oscar for best supporting actor in last years fantastic The Florida Project. It looks as if the legendary actors next project will poise him for similar success.

Dafoe has been cast to play perturbed artist Vincent van Gogh in the upcoming Julian Schnabel (Before Night Falls, The Diving Bell and the Butterfly) directed biopic, At Eternity’s Gate.

An official description of the film reads “This is a film about painting and a painter and their relationship to infinity. It is told by a painter. It contains what I felt were essential moments in his life; this is not the official history – it’s my version. One that I hope could make you closer to him.”

It looks like it’s shaping up to be a truly interesting, poignant biopic, check out the trailer below:
