It looks like Xbox fans may be a tad disappointed if a Reddit user is to be believed after he said there’s only 346GB of storage for games.

As per TechsSpot, the information comes courtesy of Redditor spead20. They took to the XboxSeriesX subreddit to show off their brand-new Xbox Series S, the lucky duck getting his next-gen console a week before everyone else. They said this was possible as they are in Canada.

Received it 1 week early !! From the source (Canada) feeling really lucky ! Hope all of you receive it soon!

In the comments of his Reddit post (which shows an image of the console’s box to his credit), another user asked spead20 how much of the Series S 512GB of storage is actually available to players. They responded by saying there’s only “364GB for games and apps,” a woefully small amount.

For example, Call of Duty: Warzone is already over 200GB. That’s more than half of that storage capacity. Red Dead Redemption 2 takes up 150GB. Two games per console, it seems then. Choose wisely.

Next-gen titles are also getting more complex and their installation sizes will only continue to increase as a result. As the Series S is an all-digital console, there are no discs to offset the file size.

For the wallet-conscious, it’s not good news either. Perhaps more people will consider saving up for the Series X instead, the higher-end model costing $500 instead of the Series S’s cheaper $300.  The Series X has a greater 802GB of usable storage. Alternatively, you could always snag a high-speed external drive, when those become widely available.

This obviously isn’t an official information – sorry spead20, whoever you are. Until the Series S is released next Tuesday, November 10th, their news can’t be confirmed. It does seem sadly likely to be true though. Perhaps this announcement will only be welcome by PlayStation stans. The new PS5 reportedly boasts 667GB of usable storage space. It could mean another win for the blue side of the gaming world.
