NSW Health has confirmed that they will now expand testing for mild COVID-19 symptoms for those that live in virus hotspots. These hotspots include Blacktown, Cumberland, Westmead, the Inner West, Liverpool, Penrith, Randwick, Ryde, Waverley and Woollahra.

NSW Health are encouraging those that are experiencing mild symptoms — such as a sore throat, fever or cough — to seek testing.

“We’re asking that everyone in these areas if they have even very mild symptoms to present to their GP or one of the COVID clinics or even to a hospital and seek testing,” shares NSW Health acting director Dr Christine Selvey.

NSW has also launched a new COVID-19 testing service that will notify people on the same day if they test negative for the virus.

“That is a huge step for us,” NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian shared. “The rate of testing in NSW is really allowing us to control the spread, and that will obviously continue this week.”
