‘You’ star Victoria Pedretti has taken to her social media to share a photo of a female nipple.

Pedretti – who plays serial killer Love on the hit Netflix show ‘You’ – originally shared a photo of a nipple that appears to be a female’s. The photo has since been removed and a new male nipple photo has been published in its place.

This is intentional. Not hacked,” Pedretti captioned the new photo.

Pedretti’s stylist has commented on the new photo, writing “free the nip!! missing my vic!!!”

The photos are a stance agist Instagram’s rules that ban users from publishing photos of female’s nipples. Their rules stipulate that a woman’s nipple can’t be posted on the platform, but a man’s nipple can be.

The guidelines have long been criticised and called discrimination, and started a movement called “free the nipple”. “Free the nipple” is a viral slogan that content creators have used to call out the prejudice that allows only male nipples to be posted and to remove the taboo of exposed female nipples.

In an Instagram comment, the actress confirmed that the original photo of a female nipple was removed.

“What happened to the other one,” a user asked her after the original photo was removed.

Pedretti replied, “I believe Instagram thought I was threatening your safety as a member of this “community””.

She sarcastically added, “I hope you are all ok.”

One Instagram user commented on the photo, “Is this a social experiment?” With another writing, “let us know the results of this experiment”.
