It’s almost the Easter Weekend, which is usually a time of mass confusion about what’s opened and what’s shut over the four-day holiday.

Should you take your chances and walk to Woolies? Will Uber Eats even be available to take care of your Macca’s run? Read on below to find out the answers to these burning questions and more. Let us take the stress out of the holiday.

Takeaway

Uber Eats, Menulog, and all other such food delivery apps will still be doing their thing this Easter Weekend. There might be a more limited selection though, with a lot of restaurants and cafes shutting their doors over the four days. Expect the wait time to be a tad longer as well. Don’t shoot the messenger. If Jesus could wait three whole days to resurrect, you can wait an extra hour for your Vietnamese food to arrive.

Supermarkets

The most fiendish service of them all over the Easter Weekend. Supermarkets love to be chaotic during this time, with all the different competitors seemingly having differing opening hours. That’s why it’s easier if we break it down by each chain (and by each state, prepare yourself):

For the likes of Aldi and IGA, it’s best to check their official website as opening hours will vary between local areas (recommended for Woolies and Coles just to be on the safe side too).

Alcohol

Let’s hope you’re already well-stocked for wine because most bottle-os will be shut for the entire Easter Weekend. No Dan Murphy’s. No BWS (with a few of these back up and running on Easter Monday). If you fancy a long drive, SA should have most bottle-os open as normal from Easter Saturday. Imagine crossing the border to discover that they were actually closed though. You’d definitely need a strong drink after that.

Cinemas

If you’ve still not seen The Batman, or you think Jude Law can save the Fantastic Beasts franchise, most cinemas around the country will be open to give everyone somewhere to go. This might be especially handy if the East Coast’s bad weather continues over the holiday.

Banks

Banks will mostly be closed on Good Friday, but with the majority of stores closed, why do you really need to withdraw money for anyway? Some banks will even remain shut until after the Easter Weekend, so best take care of all your banking needs on Thursday night.
