Warner Bros has just announced works have begun on an animated Scooby-Doo film. Dubbed ‘Scoob‘, the feature film has cast none other than Zac Efron for the voice of Fred, and Amanda Seyfried for Daphne.

As Variety reports, the new Scoob film will be directed by Tony Cervone (Space Jam, The Looney Tunes Show), with Matt Lieberman being tapped to work on the screenplay.

Details recently released reveal that the film will show Scooby-Doo characters teaming up with other characters in the Hanna-Barbera universe to save the world from the evil Dick Dastardly.

Zac Efron’s credits include playing Troy Bolton in High School Musical 3, and Mike O’Donnell in 17 Again. Seyfried’s credits include playing Karen Smith in Mean Girls, and Sophie Sheridan in Mamma Mia.

Other additions to the film’s cast include Will Forte, who has been cast as the voice of Shaggy, Gina Rodriguez who will be the voice for Velma, and Frank Welker, who will voice Scooby-Doo himself.

The film is expected to hit cinemas in 2020.

Greg Silverman, Warner Bros’ president of creative development and worldwide production commented, “Like countless fans, I have always loved the Hanna-Barbera cast of characters,”
