Zac Efron has played many roles throughout his career. A teen heartthrob in High School Musical, a ’60s teen heartthrob in Hairspray, and then he played a baby boomer who was stuck in the body of their younger (teen heartthrob) self in 17 Again. But now he’s branched out and is playing creepy serial killer and necrophile Ted Bundy in the upcoming biopic Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil And Vile.

As part of the news that the film will premiere at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival, we’ve been given a first look at Efron playing the infamous killer. Check out the first pictures from the film below.

Efron has also shared a picture of himself as the killer in what appears to be a courtroom on his Instagram to celebrate the news. The film tells the story of Ted Bundy through the eyes of his girlfriend Elizabeth Kloepfer played by Lily Collins.

There’s no worldwide release date for the Joe Berlinger directed film as of yet, but it looks likely we will be able to see the film early next year! Because there’s no trailer, take a look back at Zac’s emotional turmoil in the High School Musical 3 track “Scream”.
